To celebrate the theatrical release of the new comedy ‘Meet The Spartans’ on March 21, the ideas agency Beatwax has created a nationwide university tour to find the silliest Spartan warrior in the UK.
The tour has so far stopped at universities in London, Cardiff, Manchester, Bristol, Warwick, Cambridge and Southampton and will continue on to Norwich, Leicester and Loughborough universities.
The tour aims to challenge participants by providing them with the opportunity to create their own Spartan movie using the film as inspiration. By dressing as warriors, students will be able to bring their Spartan-ness to life with the help of Beatwax.
All videos received from participants will be featured on a Spartans contest website, with each one automatically entered into a prize draw for the chance to win an iPod Touch. The movie judged to be the silliest will win a trip for four to Ibiza, courtesy of 20th Century Fox.
The Bristolian guys above might be prime candidates but they seem to have perhaps lost the point. Rather than dressing like Spartans, they seem more interested in getting undressed in their own little choreographed routine. Still, it’s a bit of eye candy for our lady – or otherwise - readers.
From the makers of ‘Scary Movie’ and ‘Date Movie’, ‘Meet the Spartans’ is a spoof comedy that parodies films such as 300 and references celebrities and TV shows.
“We came up with the idea of a university tour to take awareness of Meet the Spartans to the next level – a higher education level,” said Michael Brown, managing director of Beatwax.
“The tour has definitely created a buzz ahead of the film’s premiere and has encouraged students to unleash their inner warrior in a unique way.”
