A marketing campaign to promote North East England “Down Under” is proving a success with more than 17,000 visitors, in just one day, to two new websites targeted at people in Australia and New Zealand.
Australia and New Zealand have been identified as a key international market for North East England following the launch of the Emirates daily route from Dubai to Newcastle International Airport, last September.
TV, press and direct mail activity has been driving visitors to northeastengland.com.au and northeastengland.co.nz which provide information to potential visitors about North East England.
The campaign aims to raise the awareness of the region to Antipodean travellers and encourage them to choose North East England as their next holiday destination.
The campaign has seen 60,000 unique visitors to the websites with half of those requesting further information and guides on North East England.
International Brand Manager at One NorthEast, Marissa Buckingham, said, “We are delighted with the success of the campaign which is down to its strength using a range of marketing activity to increase the exposure of North East England in Australasia.”
