With so much hype about the new Guinness ‘Tipping Point’ ad, how’s this for a blast form the past…
Creative Director Alfredo Marcantonio made the above ad Trophy Bitter ‘Dominos’ in 1983 with Director Roger Woodburn, pre-dating computer effects.
As he recalls the last frame involved 10,000 specially painted Dominoes.
It was set up by the reigning World Champion domino 'toppler' Michael Cairney, who spent an entire weekend on his haunches. If fact when they all tip-toed in to shoot the end sequence on the Monday morning his knees were bandaged and bleeding!
A few years later he teamed one of his creative teams with Roger Woodburn and they worked together on the famous spoof ‘Dambusters’ commercial for Carling, by which time Paul Brazier, the Creative Director of the Guinness’s ad agency AMV BBDO was working in Marc's Creative Department.
Of course, what is stranger still, was the fact that he was Vice Chairman of AMV BBDO during the nineties.
