‘Home Alone’ and ‘My Girl’ star Macaulay Culkin, is following in thew footsteps of Val Kilmer to star in the latest instalment of Orange mobile’s tongue-in-cheek Gold Spot cinema ads.
The campaign, createsd by Mother once again features the fictitious Orange executive Mr Dresden and his assistant Elliot. Culkin plays a death row prisoner locked in his prison cell, desperately trying to ‘reconnect’ with humanity.
Last October, Orange renewed its contract with Carlton Screen Advertising for three more years for the ‘gold spot’ - the ad break immediately before a film starts. Orange has held the rights to the 65-second gold spot since 2000.
Previous Orange Film Board spoofs have featured Mena Suvari ,Carrie Fisher, Roy Schneider, Daryl Hannah, Patrick Swayze and Ewan McGregor.
Director of Brand Marketing for Orange UK, Justin Billingsley, said, “The Orange Gold Spot series holds a special place in British cinema-goers hearts. As always we’re reminding audiences to switch off their mobile phones in a fun and creative way.
“Orange has a long history of involvement in film - with BAFTA, Orange Wednesdays and the Gold Spot advertising together making us the number one brand associated with film in the UK.”
