Cadbury Dairy Milk has launched one of its most creative advertising campaigns yet by teaming up with a Phil Collins loving, drum-playing gorilla.
‘Gorilla’ is the first film for Cadbury Dairy Milk’s ‘A Glass and a Half Full Productions' from Fallon, a concept to produce exceptional pieces of entertainment that aim to make consumers smile as much as enjoying a bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk.
The film sees the gorilla realising his long-held ambition to play a drum solo to the Phil Collins classic.
Cadbury Trebor Bassett Marketing Director commented, Phil Rumbol, said, “With this ad we want to remind people how good Cadbury Dairy Milk is and make them smile, just like they do when enjoying a bar of our chocolate.”
The hairy Cadbury Dairy Milk gorilla was made by Stan Winston Studios who have created suits and monsters for classic action films like The Terminator, Aliens, Edward Scissor Hands and Predator.
The actor in the suit, Garon Michael, appeared in Congo, Instinct and Planet of the Apes. He’s spent a lifetime perfecting his gorilla art with visits to observe the animals in their natural habitat, on film and in zoos.
Cadbury Dairy Milk holds leadership position with 9 per cent of the total confectionery market share and annual sales of more than £360 million.
The TV is being supported with an on pack promotion. ‘Win a Prize and a Half’ offers consumers a prize and a half, such as Salsa lessons…in Havana; a designer outfit…to wear at a UK premiere, Driving gloves….for a track day in a Ferrari.
