Global Radio’s Galaxy is challenging social network sites with the launch of its own dating site, ‘Get my mate a date’.
Building on the success of social networks and using the elements from web 2.0, the site is designed for twenty somethings and their mates, Galaxy’s core audience.
Parting from the idea that in real life finding a date can be intimidating and a somewhat nerve-wrecking experience and that many dates are arranged by friends for friends, the site is designed to make dating easier by encouraging mates to nominate their friends on the site and help them find a partner.
The site’s design invites people to sign up via a mate, acting as match-makers, so the whole process is light-hearted and fun experience.
The added features on the site will include: live chats, video chats, uploading of photo albums or videos, setting a quiz and even personalising one’s personal profile page with a variety of templates.
Getmymateadate mates will be able to listen to live Galaxy radio while enjoying some social banter with their friends online.
The site will go live on August 29 and will be supported across all Galaxy radio stations, including digital, with on-air features commencing on the same day to coincide with the site launch.
Galaxy Brand Marketing Director, Paul Coleman, said, “We have been looking at the world of social networks for some time now and have chosen to explore the popular world of dating.
“We believe that the Getmymateadate site will offer users a fun experience with many added features, which are not available on other dating sites.”
