Agency: Wieden + Kennedy
Client: Pizza Hut
Wieden + Kennedy have created a 60” Pizza Hut cinema commercial that breaks on Friday, June 29.
The Gold Spot ad will run prior to all ‘U’ certificate films in cinemas across the UK for a full year.
The deal was negotiated by Starcom with Carlton and Pearl & Dean, and takes the place Buena Vista have traditionally held as the last advertising break before the feature film in all family films.
The cinema Gold Spot allows Pizza Hut to talk to its core family audience at a time when they are already enjoying a great family time together.
Created by Dan Norris and Ray Shaughnessy and shot for Wieden + Kennedy by Smith and Foulkes of Nexus, the unusual, innovative commercial depicts a series of framed snapshots of happy families having fun all over the world – and ultimately enjoying dinner at a Pizza Hut restaurant.
The ad is a move away from the traditional product focused approach used on TV by Pizza Hut, and instead celebrates the family as a whole and the experience they have at Pizza Hut.
The endline ‘Family Fun Since 1958’ encapsulates the role Pizza Hut plays in families lives – providing a place where the whole family can connect and have fun together.
The warm, infectious track accompanying the ad ‘Escribe Me Pronto’ was written by Camilo Lara and Holger Beier and performed by Instituto Mexicano Del Sonido.
Chief Marketing Officer, Pizza Hut UK, Hugh Wood, says, “This re-affirms Pizza Hut’s positioning as the Number One family restaurant, helping modern families take the time out to enjoy good times together.”
