Client: Friends of the Earth
Green campaigning charity Friends of the Earth has launched a steamy new video that aims to show people that insulation can be sexy.
Starring Daniel Rigby, who played Eric Morecombe in BBC drama Eric and Ernie, and actress Lily James from BBC’s Just William, the two-minute film sees talk of cavity wall insulation drive a carbon-obsessed girl wild. The bedroom action screeches to a half, however, when she notices her date’s TV has been left on standby.
It ends with the line: “Save your energy for the bedroom. Tell the Government to make sure everyone has a warm home.” The video was written and produced by specialist web TV and film production company, Catsnake.
Inspired by Barak Obama’s claim that insulation is “sexy stuff”, the film supports Friends of the Earth’s call for the Government to do more to stop poorly insulated British homes form leaking heat, to tackle climate change and help vulnerable people who spend more than they can afford trying to stay warm.
It is calling for the Government’s Energy Bill, currently being debated in Parliament, to lead to a nationwide plan to make sure that by 2020 no one lives in a cold home. More than a quarter of the UK’s carbon emissions come from homes and making them more energy efficient is one of the quickest and cheapest ways to fight climate change.
