Wieden + Kennedy has launched the next phase of the ‘it’s not technology it’s what you do with it’ campaign to support of the launch of the Nokia N8 smartphone.
The agency has created the music-making mobile app ‘Loop’, which allows users to make their own, instantly shareable music, anywhere and with anything, by looping and recording various sounds with their N8 device.
The user can record up to four sounds at any one time and can also merge and delete tracks, even while recording, so live looping compositions can be made. These compositions can be shared via Facebook, saved as a ringtone or even used alongside film as a soundtrack.
The launch of Loop showcases the N8 as a complete entertainment device – as well as enabling Nokia to help would-be artists by letting them play with and create their own music and clips.
“We are super excited to bring the Nokia Loop App into Ovi Store. We cannot wait to see the innovative ways that music lovers will use this fun app and share their loops with friends and social networks,” said Global Marketing Director, Nokia, Kari Tuutti.
In support of the launch of Loop, Wieden + Kennedy has also created a viral film, ‘Poodle Loop’, which demos the app in a creative and compelling way. The film is set in the world of extreme poodle styling to dramatise the app’s features and to demonstrate how ‘easy it is to use.
The film also highlights the app’s portability, and illustrates that you don’t have to be a musician to use it.
The viral will be embedded across all Nokia channels including Facebook, YouTube and Nokia.com as well as a specially designed hub – loopapp.net
The Loop app and supporting film continue the theme of the entire N8 campaign which has celebrated the amazing things people can do with Nokia technology.
Other elements that have run this year include the global TVC ‘Hands On’ and the world-record-breaking viral film ‘Dot’.
