Social media pioneer Blendtec has proved its phenomenally popular viral format does blend by spoofing Old Spice’s The Man Your Man Could Smell Like campaign in its latest video.
In this instalment, Tom Dickson, chief executive of Blendtec, works with a lookalike of former NFL star Isaiah Mustafa, who starred in the Old Spice campaign, to blend a bottle of the Procter & Gamble fragrance. The lookalike implores viewers to “look at my blender, now back to your blender, now back to mine”.
The Man Your Man Could Smell Like virals, which itself spoofed conspicuous product placement, saw Mustafa interact in real time on social media. Wieden & Kennedy picked up the Grand Prix in the film category at Cannes Lions for the campaign.
Blendtec’s innovative campaign, which launched in 2006, promotes its range of industrial blenders.
