Blue Marlin has created impactful new packaging for much loved brand Pukka Pies, as it prepares to make its debut as a microwaveable food.
The new range will roll out next month. Microwaveable pastry has for decades been the Holy Grail for pie manufacturers.
Now, after years of research and development at the most modern pie production facility in Europe, Pukka has solved the problem with short crust pies designed specifically for the microwave that taste oven baked and come out crisp and crumbly, from freezer to plate in 3 ½ minutes.
Marketing and business development controller Peter Mayes comments, “It is great food, fast, not fast food. We have put all our passion and expertise into creating the new range. It is a proper Pukka Pie, but in a hurry.”
The timing of the launch could not be better as pies are enjoying a renaissance in the UK, with sales at a thirty year high, up 17m pies over the last two years (Nielsen). The market is worth £229m and has increased by 16 per cent since 2008.
