The quiet, quintessential, British, seaside town of Sandwich was left completely star-struck as a host of world-famous celebrities surprised locals, alongside Walkers icon Gary Lineker, to film the latest ad for Walkers crisps.
The 60-second ad, shot over the course of three days, paints the picture of an ordinary day, in an ordinary town in Kent... with a twist!
A host of well known faces including JLS and Pamela Anderson amazed locals as they went about their daily lives. The entire series of events was captured by documentary style filming.
In a snapshot of the excitement brought to Sandwich by Walkers; Jenson Button trades in his F1 racing car for a local taxi; JLS perform an impromptu concert at Sandwich Tech Sixth Form College; football legends Frank Lampard and Gary Lineker join the local team for an early morning kick-about; Marco Pierre White cooks up a storm in the market with his stunning culinary assistant Danielle Lineker and the nation’s favourite pub landlord Al Murray hosts a jam-packed quiz night accompanied by guest barmaid Pamela Anderson, serving local punters their usual tipples.
“The new Walkers Sandwich ad is all about taking the ordinary and making it extraordinary,” said Marketing Director for Walkers, Miranda Sambles.
“Both the celebrities involved and the residents of Sandwich have been great sports and we are really excited to see the end result. The element of surprise and jeopardy has ensured a fun packed few days for all and we want to especially thank the fun loving and hospitable people of Sandwich for all their input and enthusiasm.”
The new ad hits TV screens across the UK as part of a nationwide campaign, themed around lunchtime.
Walkers is partnering with top retailers and sandwich stores across the country to create bespoke ‘meal deals’ with Walkers products.
