Christmas shopping in New York. The folks at retail marketing specialist agency, Live & Breathe, love it.
The streets come alive as the best retailers in the world gear up for the festive new year with wonderful window displays.
From the interactive to the fanciful, join us on a whistle stop tour of the best shop displays in the Big Apple this year.
Barneys – Have a witty holiday (above)
A tie in with Saturday Night Live mixes satirical caricatures with “Have a Witty Holiday” and “Give Great Gift” messages – unusual thematic that’s not very seasonal but has strong stand out.
Bloomingdales - Dynamic Duos
“Dynamic Duos”, featuring Batman and Robin and Mr. and Mrs. Obama feature in some windows but this is not carried through as a theme – instead random glittery items appear, resulting in a garish and confusing experience.
Macys – Believe
Our favourite windows – lots of fun with two strong themes – “A Miracle on 34th Street” (which features the famous Macys’ Parade) and “Believe” a romantic campaign to get everyone to believe in Father Christmas and write him a letter with the interactive window.
Saks - Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star
Saks + Microsoft Windows = snowflakes. This partnership had us puzzled but the use of mixed media is interesting.
Tiffany - Doily Deluxe
Tiffany used paper cut outs to an amazing effect – difficult to photograph – but you’ll have to take our word for it. Really intricate and stunning.
