Agency: Mezzo Films
One of the UK’s largest convenience store chains, Costcutter, has called upon leading Leeds production company, Mezzo Films, to produce its latest national TV campaign which sees cricket hero, Darren Gough, take the limelight.
The York-based franchise has almost 1,600 stores nationwide and has worked with Mezzo Films for almost 10 years.
Costcutter briefed the Headingley team to produce its 2009/2010 campaign, the first commercial from which aired on GMTV and ITV on Wednesday 28 October 2009.
As the face and voice of Costcutter’s new TV commercials, Darren Gough takes the lead by promoting the store’s special product offers and great local value.
Adding a dash of his own cheeky personality, the advertisement sees Gough using his fancy footwork to charm the staff and customers in a Costcutter store.
Over the next 12 months, Mezzo Films will produce a range of different commercials, each promoting special product offers and all featuring Gough, which will appear at various times on GMTV and ITV.
“Working with Darren Gough has been a real pleasure and I think the combination of his unique charm and Mezzo Film’s creative and technical expertise has resulted in a series of adverts that showcase Costcutter as one of the UK’s best-loved convenience stores,” said Jill Morris, head of marketing at Costcutter.
As well as on ITV, Mezzo Films’ commercials for Costcutter can also be viewed online at costcutter.com.
