Beating Bowel Cancer has launched a new website giving patients, relatives, health professionals, supporters and the general public easier access to information on the disease and improved ways to get involved with the charity and its work.

The new site, designed by Ambition Communications and built by digital agency, The Online Studio, has a number of new features including an online forum, an ‘Ask the nurse’ section, and is launched with a video welcome message from Beating Bowel Cancer’s patron Matt Dawson.

The site benefits from enhanced navigation and search technology, enabling users to identify at a glance the information most relevant to them – be they patients, carers, medics, corporate partners, journalists or fundraisers.

The information they select can be bookmarked, downloaded or saved accordingly, helping visitors get the most from the site as efficiently as possible.

Patient and fundraiser “real life stories” appear on each page, helping to bring the content alive and to engage users, and photography used throughout the site features members of the charity’s Patient Voices group – people with bowel cancer (taken by a Patient Voice photographer) - as well as general supporters.

 “We are thrilled with the new website which offers unrivalled information and support to all those affected by bowel cancer as well as health professionals working with bowel cancer patients,” said, Chief Executive of Beating Bowel Cancer , Hilary Whittaker.

“The site has been cleverly designed to appeal to our two core audiences, patients and their carers, and general charity supporters, who have different needs and who are seeking out different types of information.”

Whittaker added, “The clear side and top navigations allow each of these user groups to follow a very specific user journey, whilst also enabling seamless crossover into other areas of the website when required. We hope that, in providing our visitors with such a positive user experience, we will engage with them and involve them on a long-term basis.”

Beating Bowel Cancer’s website has been growing, along with the charity over the past few years, both in terms of the amount of information and advice available on line and the number of people using the site.

Just two years ago, the website was attracting, on average, 16,000 unique visitors per month. Now, the site attracts nearly 23,000 visitors each month. With the launch of the new site, the charity forecasts an even greater uplift in monthly visitor numbers.
