O2 has released a genius sportive viral campaign highlighting the ease with which consumers can pass on Sim cards for the mobile network.
A new website simrugby.co.uk and series of virals have been created to celebrate the launch of a new sport - Sim Rugby.
The push is fronted by I’m Bob Babbington, World President and Global Guardian-in-Chief of the United World-Wide Intra-Continental Sim Rugby Federation (or WPGGCUWWICSRF for short).
“Welcome to the world of sim rugby. A game that inspires more passion than football, cricket, or even buckaroo,” he tells us.
“I’m part-inventor, part-promoter, all passion. Some people have claimed sim rugby was a French invention. Categorically not true. It’s as English as a ham and cheese toastie.”
The game is all about passing - the science, the art and the philosophy – of passing a sim.
Bob adds, “In fact, call me a dreamer, but there may come a day when ‘sim passing’ is taught in undergraduate courses on philosophy. That’s how deep it is.
As one would expect, the game has its own England squad, who are the undisputed world champions of the game. But, of course, when other countries begin to play sim rugby, this may change.
O2 is positioned as the official sponsor of the sport with Bob adding, “It’s a perfect partnership, because the very best Sims for passing are from O2.
“To me, they are the Rolls Royce of Sims. I don’t mean that they are extremely heavy and expensive - just that they’re really good.”
He concludes, “Whether off-pitch or on, passing Sims is clearly the best way to spread love, happiness and - who knows? – maybe world peace too. I am not here to judge, but why wouldn’t you pass your Sims on unless you are truly evil?”
