The new TV ad for the Passat features a man who is down on his luck, cheerily strolling through a landscape bearing all the signs of the economic crisis, such as ‘closing down’ sales, weary bankers and empty Estate Agents offices.
We end up seeing why he remains so positive with the punchline - he drives a Volkswagen Passat, naturally.
The idea? In the midst of the doom and gloom there are some things that are still refreshingly dependable, and the Volkswagen Passat is one thing you can be sure of.
