Client: Oasis
Agency: Mother London
RubberDuckZilla, a giant rubber duck that doesn’t like water, is the unlikely follow-up to soft drink brand Oasis’s controversial Cactus Kid campaign.
This latest spot in the ‘for people who don’t like water series’ takes its cue from classic Monster Island movies such as Godzilla and King Kong and aims to target a 20-something audience.
In it, RubberDuckZilla storms through a Japanese city destroying everything related to water in his battle to promote variety and the freedom to choose tastier drinks.
The integrated campaign has been created by Coca-Cola roster agency Mother London, with digital by Poke and media through Vizeum.
RubberDuckZilla dramatically appears when he feels the students’ freedom of choice is being prevented and he demonstrates his disapproval by destroying water related objects. The ad ends on a high with the students riding off into the sunset with RubberDuckZilla as they all enjoy some ‘Oasis’.
Other elements include exclusive content via a dedicated website and strategic media partnerships with The Sun, Zoo and Empire. It breaks on TV from May 18, but you can see it here.
The campaign will be enhanced backed by outdoor and print advertising and a comprehensive PR programme, all designed to encourage discovery and conversation amongst the 20-something audience.
