Client: BBC Radio 2
BBC Radio 2 has launched an innovative and humorous campaign by RKCR/Y&R.
Starring Radio 2 presenters Jonathan Ross, Chris Evans, Russell Brand, Dermot O’Leary, and the station's newest recruit Claudia Winkleman, the campaign features a brand new mash-up track which has been created by Ted Heath and Paul Angus from the agency.
It mixes together some classic pop songs and was produced in collaboration with sound engineers Anthony Moore and Ben Firth at Factory.
The songs starring in the mash-up are Blondie’s ‘Atomic’, David Bowie’s ‘Sound and Vision’ and James Brown’s ‘Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag’, along with two more contemporary tracks - Run DMC’s ‘Walk This Way’ and KT Tuntstall ‘Black Horse and the Cherry Tree’.
The result is an original, contemporary-sounding musical backdrop that accompanies footage of the Radio 2 presenters in their natural broadcasting environment, talking on-air, singing along, dancing and even indulging in a spot of air-guitar.
The music is edited with the footage to create an entertaining snapshot of some of the great music and personalities featured on Radio 2 , finishing with the 'Amazing music. Played by an amazing line up' message.
