Former Spice Girl Mel B is starring in a new animated campaign for cable TV operator Virgin Media.
The LA State of Mind singer stars in the ad alongside Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson, both have been immortalised by American company So! Animation to promote the company’s Movies on Demand service.
The cinema campaign, titled ‘Melony Brown’, will break next Friday (12 September) and sees Mel B dressed in her trade mark leopard print cat suit as she heads to a swanky German plastic surgeon.
Gesturing at her chest, she tells the surgeon of her desire to make a ‘big impression in Hollywood’. He prescribes Movies on Demand from Virgin Media in a bid to help her ‘stand out from zee udders’ and get ahead in the film world.
Mel B said, “I’m over the moon with my animated alter ego and the advert really made me giggle! It’s definitely fresh and original and I’m going to make sure all my friends and family go to the cinema to see it.”
The former Spice Girl is the second celebrity to star in the animated ads from Virgin following Mick Hucknall’s appearance on cinema screens in June.
Ashley Stockwell, Virgin Media’s acting managing director of brand and marketing said: “Following the success of the Mick Hucknall ad, we couldn’t wait to release our next ad and we’re thrilled to have such a fun loving and larger-than-life personality, such as Mel B, on board. After all these years in the limelight, Mel is still a favourite with the British public and was the perfect choice for the ad, as she was happy to have a real laugh with us.”
