Bluepod Media Signs Exclusive Bluetooth Marketing Rights with Leading Premiership Football Clubs

Bluepod Media, the Bluetooth marketing specialist, is delighted to announce that it has secured exclusive Bluetooth marketing rights at leading football clubs including Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City, West Ham, Portsmouth, Wigan Athletic, Wolves and Celtic. 

The commercial agreement follows on from successful trials at Portsmouth and Birmingham City football clubs.  It will allow third parties to work with Bluepod Media to create and distribute branded content to football fans within all stadia on match days. The fans pay nothing to enjoy the content whilst brand owners are able to pay on a cost per download basis similar to the cost per click internet model.

At a recent Bluepod Media trial at Portsmouth Football Club, 6,245 Premiership fans opted in to download a movie trailer to their phones via their phone’s Bluetooth connection from a total crowd of 20,200.

John Scorah, Managing Director, Bluepod Media: “Brands waste millions of pounds targeting football fans on match days via traditional media which is both uninspiring and not measurable. We now offer brands the opportunity to create a one to one relationship with fans that adds value to their matchday experience.”

The total attendance at premiership football clubs last season was 12.9 million people and Bluetooth content provides an enjoyable experience that can fill periods of ‘downtime’ in the immediate build up to games and during half time periods when fans are seeking entertainment. Fans can opt-in to receiving free ads and club profiles, fixtures, news and manager notes via their Bluetooth, with ads paid for by advertisers at a pay-per-download rate of between GBP 40p and 70p.

John Scorah: “We are able to run campaigns across the whole Bluepod Media football stadia network simultaneously or independently. The campaigns can be brand driven or linked to specific promotions with local retailers.”

This announcement follows on from the exclusive agreement with all Vue, Cineworld and now, Showcase cinemas to provide Bluetooth marketing across over 150 UK cinemas. Bluepod Media recently announced the culmination of a successful Bluetooth campaign promoting the new LG Viewty phone. The campaign was set the aim of achieving 370,000 downloads, which were exceeded by 62,000 to deliver a total of 432,000 within three weeks – ten days ahead of expectations.
