Guinness has seen its 250th anniversary year out in style with a live advert aired to audiences in Ireland.
The plan had been to film a massive firework display staged at the stout brand’s home – the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin – airing it for 60-seconds at 17.59 local time.
The time was a reference to the year 1759, when, on New Year's Eve, Arthur Guinness signed the brewery's 9,000-year lease at Dublin's St James' Gate.
However, the organisers we’re counting on the weather and high winds meant the event and airing was delayed by three hours.
Critics have claimed their efforts against the blustery conditions only add to the impressive nature of the ad.
“And just think, this is only the stoutmaker's 250th birthday,” added David Kiefaber at AdFreak. “ God only knows what they'll do for their 9,000th.”
