The current Christmas ad for Marks and Spencer has been voted the public’s favourite campaign from the UK’s leading supermarkets.
With the theme of “Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without…” it includes a galaxy of stars including Stephen Fry, James Nesbitt, Philip Glenister and John Sergeant together with ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ legends, Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley.
Wallace and Gromit also appear joining Marks and Spencer regulars Twiggy, Myleene and Noemie.
The ad asks each celebrity in turn what is the key ingredient for an ideal Christmas.
Featuring a host of products from mince pies to nightwear, baubles to party dresses and toys to tableware, the work from RKCR Y&R attempts to show that M&S has that perfect something for everyone at Christmas.
The advert came tops when UTalkMarketing asked 1,000 members of the public – in collaboration with OMD Snapshots - to vote for their Christmas advert from the UK’s leading supermarkets.
It received over one fifth (19 per cent) of the vote, placing it ahead of the first runner-up, Tesco, with ‘A Jolly Christmas’ which received 15 per cent. Sainsburys, Waitrose and Morrisons all received 13 per cent.
