How lucky are the marketing people at PaddyPower? There they were with their camera crew camped outside Shamrock Rover’s stadium hoping to catch Cristiano Ronaldo taking a break from Real Madrid's training session.
Unbelievably where they actually found him was in the local PaddyPower betting shop nearby on Belgard Road. Like we said, unbelievable! What a coincidence!
The shaky camera work captures the soccer star making a mad dash for a waiting limousine in full kit. Are those actually studded boots on his feet?
Meanwhile a lone female fan screeches “Will you marry me?”, to add to the, ahem, ‘authenticity’ as an unfortunate paparazzo is pushed out of the way in the 'media scrum'.
Next we cut to a Nicola Priestly of PaddyPower’s Belgard Road branch, who tells the camera, “He did a substantial bet. He was lovely, gorgeous.”
“Was Cristiano betting for Real Madrid?,” ask Paddy Power.
Who knows? Who cares? What we’re more likely to put a bet on is the fact that this ‘viral’ is a load of old PaddyWhack!
Really? We’d rather not give you the link to watch this cringeworthy viral marketing stinker. Are consumers really that gullible?
