Apple has lifted its ban on the Eucalyptus eBook reader application despite fears that it could be used to download the ‘Kama Sutra’, it has been reported.
The matter was apparently resolved after a phonecall from an Apple representative to Eucalyptus developer, James Montgomerie.
"I got a phone call from an Apple representative who was extremely complimentary about Eucalyptus, and it's now on sale," Montgomerie said in an e-mail to Guardian, technology correspondent, Bobbie Johnson.
The internet giant informed him that if he resubmitted an uncensored version of the program they would put it on sale.
Apple’s turnaround – without an explanation of what happened or how the mistake was made in the first place – has raised both eyebrows and questions. But the giant is keeping tight-lipped on this incident.
"You'll be pleased to know that the crazy bureaucracy malfunction is now over (for me, at least)," Montgomerie said, with some relief.
