TBWA has produced a new advert to celebrate EuroPride 2009, declaring there’s ‘A Little Gay in everyone.”
The ad has been created by the agency’s office in Zurich - the Swiss city where Europe’s biggest LGBT festival is taking place from May 2 to June 7.
It’s been built around the premise that no one is 100 per cent straight and ‘There’s a little gay in everyone.’
The 60-second film opens with a happily married couple sleeping together in bed. A glowing starts in the man’s chest, out of which rises a gilded cage containing a tiny animated drag queen.
Dressed in exaggerated high heels, sequined dress and a feather boa, she bursts into song declaring, “I’m so stunning and amazing. I am glitzy and ballsy and loud.”
As the drag queen skips around the room household objects and furniture are magically transformed to be gay-friendly. Lube and an erotic Tom of Finland print appear on the mantlepiece. A functional dressing table turns into something more fabulous.
Pausing by a mirror, she adds, “When I think about what’s coming my way, I’m so proud to be out, to be loved, to be gay.”
Leaping in the air, she lands by the man’s feet and disappears between his leg, before being shown to sink down back into the man’s chest, where she originated from.
The work has been produced by Richard Hickey and the well-known 3D-artist Andrew Daffy whose animation credits include effects for the ‘Harry Potter’ films.
The spot is curenttly showing in selected cinemas, on TV as well as on various LGBT websites and on YouTube.
