| From what I understand, Festival Republic (owners of both festivals) wanted and needed to build on the festival 'recall' name. The brand is Reading and Leeds Festival which was title sponsored by Carling. To many consumers recalled the event as The Carling Festival at Reading/Leeds so they dropped the name in the title which Carling weren't to pleased about. Its a brave move but one that will work as the Festival is one of the strongest and best organised.
