Our research shows that Facebook users are not happy with advertisers encroaching on their social space? But what do you think? Is it an unwelcome invasion of commerciality or do you actually find the brands advertising relevant to you?

I DO not want advertisers to take over Facebook, that's the reason i left MySpace and i will leave Facebook if they do the same. Why is it that we can't just have our own online space without advertisers trying to cash in all the time?

I agree. Whilst I can see WHY advertisers want to get into the Facebook thing (huge number of young, incredibly attractive people who are immune to traditional forms of advertising), I think actually doing something will end up alientating these exact people the companies are so desperate to trap. I'm fed up with them and try to make a mental note to "boycott" all the companies I see advertising on there. Can't we have one space which advertising doesn't try to infiltrate??

Well, they've finially done it! Facebook has now launched the ad system which allows advertisers including Coca-Cola a profile page, as well as the ability to place ads into users news feeds. I for one (as a marketer) think this is great and my only problem is that i cannot get an ad up there!

I guess my first response is to the people who bemoan advertising on websites.  The answer is simple, you the user needs to pay for right to access the site.  If you are not willing to, why do you think sites like Facebook function as a business, they are definitely not a charity.

Secondly the report shows 44% of people would never respond to an ad they saw on Facebook.  I say great, that means 56% of their users would consider responding.

As always there are people who want stuff for nothing and then there are those that advertisers want to talk to.  Facebook need to balance useability with commercial gain and therefore keeping users and advertisers happy is the name of their game.

Until a viable advertiser free competitor emerges and establishes market share it is unlikely Facebook are going to see a mass walk out by their consumers.

At the end of the day Facebook is a free service, costs of website design, multiple serviers to store data etc need to be recouped and if there is a chance of making millions then hey what company will say no to that. Advertising online is a way of life. It should be suggested a customer should have a choice in the matter.
