| Start keeping digital files of everything and have a purge on printing out paper documents and keeping files. It is amazing how much paper you don't need to use by cutting down printing.

| Turn off your computer instead of leaving it on standby, turn off all electrical equipment including photocopier and coffee machine etc. We're also trying to be green in our office! Oh- and turn off all the lights when you leave.

It's not all about recycling - that's a small part of the problem.
I've just drafted my agency's environmental policy and a major part of it is energy efficiency.
The best way forward is to get the Carbon Trust to come in and audit your offices. They give great practical advice on how to reduce your energy usage.

| After watching working lunch the other afternoon they discussed the issue of recycling in offices. What they saw was that much of items thrown away in the none recyable bins could be recycled. This would include cans, bottles and so on. there is also the element where the coffee machines use plastic cups. People should be able to bring in their own mug's and not have the problem of throwing the plastic away, particulary because the plastic cups tend to end up not in a recycle bin.

Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.
As well as using recycled paper, how about making sure you use both sides of the sheet.
