| Is an agency really necessary or can i do research in- house? The costs of agencies are phenomenal.

| You can certainly do it in- house, i find this is often the cheaper option and it's always worked really well for me

| You could also use a market research consultant to help you do it in-house. That way if you've never done a research project before or, if you've got too much on your plate, someone else with experience can be handy (and a fraction of the agency cost!) check out www.indepconsultants.co.uk - they have a 'Find A Consultant' directory. Good luck!

| Depends on the research, if you are capable of doing it and have the time do it, if not source it somewhere else. Universities are good for cheap if not free research projects, it may take a while though.
