Is it true that the government had decided to abandon plans to impose a ban on junk food TV advertising? There's been such a drama in all the press about this and they finally decide not to bother - what was the point?

I doubt the government would want to ban junk food ads as they create too much money for them. Even though it would all be beneficial for our health you need to think in terms of business and the fact that they need to make money and yes it is sad that our health isnt a priority but it never will as junk food ads generate too much capital

I agree Rachael, when junk food companies are so big they can too a degree dictate their position in advertising who will be able to stop them.
