I've been the PA of a senior marketing director for a few years now but I would really like to get into marketing. Because my experience is limited, I will have to take a significant pay cut. Do you think it is worth giving up my job as a PA to persue this career?

depends on a number of things, don't you think? (sorry for the rhyme) the pay cut would be worth if the satisfaction is higher. a number of organizational psychologists will tell you that a reasonable amount of money is needed to secure satisfaction, but, that once is achieved, actual satisfaction depends on other factors such self-achievement, recognition, responsibilities and so on.

it is all in the herzberg bifactorial theory of laboral satisfaction.
