I have been in the same position at my company for nearly 3 years and have yet to had a pay rise. Is this normal?!

It depends on what position you have within the company and the stipulations outlined in your contract.

For example, in my country, a Cashier would never be considered for a pay rise since there are countless of jobless people who would jump at the opportunity. Therefore a cashier can stay in the same business for 9 years and still receive the same salary as when she started.

However if this is UK you are talking about, I am sure the business isn't as backwards as South Africa, to not offer a pay rise to their valuable employees. But then again I could be wrong. In the end I think they would be in the wrong.

NO! This is not normal! If you work in marketing, you would generally expect a pay rise every year. Talk to your boss, or just look for another job.
