Much research today is suggesting that advertising is losing control of consumers, but how much does this apply to the vodka (or more generally alcohol) industry? Are there other more modern and creative ways of attracting todays drinkers?

Where have you been? Vodka sales are at an all-time global  high and that, in part, has to be down to advertising.

Some of the work JWT has done for Smirnoff has been amazing.

Beyond ABL, experiential marketing has never been so important for alcohol brands. Lay on a good experience and the hope is you'll build brand loyalty with consumers.

Been to Ibiza recently? The uber-cool Es Vive Hotel is home to the Electric Cabaret Bar, make that the Smirnoff Electric Cabaret Bar. It's strategically decked out in the brand colours - white and red.

Meanwhile, Absolut has taken things one step further with the creation of a series of ice bars around the world.
