ADVERTISING CAMPAIGNS

McDonalds 'Come Play Monopoly'

Agency: Leo Burnett and Feel Films

Client: McDonalds

Leo Burnett and Feel Films have produced a new television advertising campaign for McDonald's new 'Money Monopoly' promotion.

Feature and commercials director John Stephenson was able to bring his wide expertise in film animation and puppetry (he was Creative Director at Jim Henson's Creature Shop), to create a memorable character who springs to life in front of our eyes from pieces of the famous Monopoly board game.

The puppet leads its amazed and intrigued "owner" out of his flat and ultimately to a McDonald's restaurant. Along the way the jaunty character points out a variety of prizes, all of which can be won in the new McDonald's "Money Monopoly" promotion, launching this week in the UK.

The character was specifically designed as a traditional puppet and was operated by puppeteers on set, giving it the warmth and three-dimensional quality often lacking in computer generated work.

During several weeks of postproduction, all traces of the puppeteers in blue suits were painstakingly removed, allowing the quirky monopoly character to burst into life.
