Agency: SS+K / Nexus Productions
Client: United Nations
The United Nations has released a striking 60-second web to tie in with the 60th anniversary of the organisation and highlight the work carried out by the UN across the globe.
The film, voiced and starring George Clooney, aims to communicate its resonant message that symbols are important but they don’t fully reflect all of the hard work that goes in to a peace process.
Beyond doves and ribbons, peace is a demanding job for over 100,000 UN Peacekeepers.
The 2D colourful animated images of peace are combined with a top layer of gritty real-action footage of UN Peacekeepers in action and by unifying animation and filmed footage in this way the film juxtaposes our idealised notion of peace with the harsh reality of what the UN strive to achieve.
Director, Johnny Kelly, said, “It was the perfect opportunity to dust off my collection of 70s graphic design annuals for inspiration, which is always nice!”
