Britain’s newest broadcaster has launched a web based TV channel today with the search to find the best mobile and video clips on the planet.
Entries for the British User Generated Awards (BUGAs) 2007 – the first ever annual awards ceremony for user generated video - will take place on February 4, celebrating the rise of citizen journalism and user generated content as a major creative and leisure past-time today.
The organiser behind The BUGAS is YourKindaTV.com, a new UK based TV website which features a range of different entertainment and news features, illustrated by clips sent in by its viewers.
The categories for the inaugural BUGAS 2007 include:
- Best Comedy Clip
- Best Mockumentary
- Best Candid Clip
- Best Live Music Clip
- Best Local News Report
- Most Dangerous Stunt
- Best User Generated Advert
- Most Original Clip
Five entries will be shortlisted in each category and then put to the public vote. The closing date for entries is January 4. The finalists will be announced on January 11 when voting will begin.
The winners will be announced at an awards bash in London on Sunday, February 4, 2007.

YourKindaTV anchorman Simon Jones said: “The BUGAS are the perfect antidote to all those boring film and TV awards programmes which usually feature the same old shows and the same old faces. The media today is well and truly in the hands of us, the people – and so are The BUGAS, which are there for everyone and anyone who wants to have their 15 minutes, or more, of fame.”
