Leading names in advertising and marketing debate brand reputation at House of Commons
Top names from the world of advertising and marketing are to lead a debate at the House of Commons on the role of sales promotion and advertising in making or breaking brand reputations.
They will be arguing over the motion that “To maintain a brand’s reputation, well-run promotions are more important than good advertising”.
The event, which is hosted by the Institute of Sales Promotion and organised by The Debating Group, takes place on March 10.
The motion is being proposed by Mike Spicer, Chairman of Media Square’s Marketing Division, which includes Wax Communications, who was previously managing director of Arc Worldwide.
He will be seconded by Jeremy Stern, managing director of Promoveritas, the independent promotional verification service.
It is being opposed by Phil Nunn, Founding Partner of Trinity Communications and formerly Managing Partner of Manning Gottlieb OMD.
He is being seconded by James Murphy, Founding Partner of Adam & Eve, and former Chief Executive of Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R.
The debate will be chaired by John Greenway, MP for Ryedale and the marketing industry’s representative in Parliament.
It takes place on March 10 in Committee Room 10 at the House of Commons, at 6pm.
The ISP is one of the sponsors of The Debating Group, which has been holding debates in the House of Commons since 1975 on contentious and contemporary political and social issues of marketing.
