Claire Owen, founder of marketing & HR recruitment agency The SG Group, has been invited with five other leading entrepreneurs, including Sir Richard Branson, by The Daily Telegraph, to support an exciting new online tool.
The new tool is called the ‘Telegraph Venture Navigator’ and has been designed to improve the chances of succeeding in business.
So, how does it work? The online tool will guide users through the issues they need to think about before writing a business plan. They’ll be asked a series of questions to help them analyse your idea and consider whether it is definitely worth pursuing.
The ‘Telegraph Venture Navigator’ draws on the expertise of eight universities and the highly praised work of Professor John Mullins, and will prove valuable free guidance to thousands of budding entrepreneurs!
Of the inspirational panel involved in the launch, each had very different reasons for starting up their business: from setting up something to be proud of, to seeing a very clear a path to making money.
As for Claire Owen (pictured), she followed an instinct after being made redundant with a mortgage to pay and a four-month old baby to feed. “I knew inherently that I was somebody who preferred to be in charge."
Within six months and having made some huge sacrifices, "I was down to a relative shoestring,” she had set up her own business, Stopgap Marketing, the UK’s first specialist freelance marketing recruitment agency.
Fifteen years later and The SG Group (formerly Stopgap) is the winner of Sunday Times Best Companies awards, Financial Times Best Workplace awards and is still growing, with offices in London and Sydney.
