Paper-based research still works

Paper-based research still works

Dismiss paper-based research techniques at your peril.

Results from recent Parkinson’s Disease Society (PDS) member research has shown that it can still deliver outstanding results.

PDS, the leading charity dedicated to providing support, advice and information for people with Parkinson's disease, recently worked with Associa Research to undertake a postal survey that would help them to better understand member views and perceptions of PDS and the job it is doing.

Kate Morris, Divisional Manager of Associa Research, said “Organisations like the Parkinson’s Disease Society use member research to assist them to ensure that all their services and benefits continue to accurately reflect the needs of the membership.

“The PDS paper-based survey delivered an impressive 39.6% response, which is almost triple the standard return rate. With such a high level of reliability we will be able to provide PDS with a robust and detailed view on the thoughts of its membership.”

“It proves that some organisations do still need to use paper-based research as a prime component of their communications strategy.”

The PDS was established in 1969 and now has nearly 29,000 members, more than 40,000 supporters and more than 330 branches and support groups throughout the UK. It provides support, advice and information to people with Parkinson's, their carers’, families and friends and to health and social services professionals involved in management and care. The Parkinson’s Disease Society is also the UK’s leading non-commercial funder of Parkinson’s research.

Associa Research works with membership organisations to help them to better understand and build a clearer profile of their membership and market place. All research projects are tailor-made to an organisation’s circumstances and research objectives.
