BaseKit, a flexible website builder and hosting service, has launched in Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Peru and Columbia.
Entry into these markets follows the successful launch in Brazil in April 2011, where it has secured interest from over 50,000 businesses in the region.
BaseKit aims its platform at small and medium sized businesses to create, host and manage their own website, without the need for coding or any experience creating websites. Everything is done in the browser, so there’s nothing to download and users can log in from any computer to make an update to their website.
BaseKit also has a large following amongst web designers, who find it faster and simpler than using traditional alternatives such as Dreamweaver.
The expansion across Latin America follows a second round of funding in March 2011, which saw BaseKit receive an additional US$6.5m of Venture Capital funding from existing investors and Barcelona based Nauta Capital.
Carles Ferrer, General Partner with Nauta said: “BaseKit is a perfect match for Latin American markets, where the entrepreneurial spirit and large number of family-run businesses mean that many people want to create their own website.”
Chris Winstanley, VP Marketing, added: “Our Spanish website has had visitors from all over Latin America for some time, and we are delighted that we can now offer our customers in Argentina, Chile, Mexico and Peru their own versions of BaseKit, with local support and billing in their home currency.“
Packages start from $10 per month, which includes unlimited access to the website editor, hosting with generous or unlimited bandwidth, access to locally based support staff and over a hundred professionally designed templates. BaseKit also offers a free trial account.
