The 30 winners of the national, Opia-sponsored 30 Under 30 Exceptional Talent Search, which seeks the top 30 marketing stars of tomorrow aged under 30, were announced at a unique venue, Bar Soho, in London on March 16th, where Capital FM's DJ Roberto led the party to the early hours.
The competition - run by Promotional Marketing magazine in association with the Institute of Promotional Marketing [IPM] - attracted 130 nominations both agency and client side staff from around the country. All work in promoting sales in media channels that range from direct and digital marketing to experiential and motivation.
The winners, from firms in London and Scotland, were chosen by a panel of judges for their strategic thinking, commercial awareness and innovative approach to promoting sales. This is the first year that Opia - a UK leader in promotional risk management, with offices in Gateshead and Harrogate - has sponsored the 30 Under 30s.
Said Opia Sales Director Adrian Harris, "The Exceptional Talent Search shows what talent is out there and how it can excel in a competitive marketplace. Opia is proud to sponsor up and coming new talent in the promotions industry, which will only be able to continue to deliver innovative and cost-effective solutions that change consumer behaviour if new talent is recognised and nurtured."
The event was organised by online marketing services firm Bluesprout.
Opia first appeared in 2006 as a new promotional risk management concept for Mobious, a Newcastle based marketing agency. Given the task of developing the business was Adrian Harris, who asked for a share of the new concept in lieu of a salary. In just over a year Adrian successfully made an offer to buy the Opia brand from Mobious. In 2008 Opia began trading in its own right. In 2010 Opia posted revenue in excess of £6M and now employs 24 permanent staff.
