EasyJet and OMD UK have launched the UK’s first airline blog http://blog.easyjet.com.
Developed by OMD UK, the blog creates a social media hub for the airline that brings together all of the easyJet brand online communities, engagement and marketing efforts. It provides easyJet with a central platform to showcase their services, brand personality and mingle with the blogosphere.
The launch of the blog will also boost easyJet organic search results and improve the customer engagement experience. Neither OMD UK nor easyJet are aware of any other UK airline that has a blog, and believes this to be a groundbreaking step change in how social media users engage with airlines online.
This move is part of easyJet’s increasing commitment to social media, as social networks and online behaviours develop. In line with this , easyJet appointed OMD UK in 2010 to co-ordinate its efforts in the social media space, and to develop a social strategy that will enhance the connection between the brand and its customers for the future.
Since OMD UK’s appointment easyJet has seen a 145% growth in its twitter following and coordinated a successful 15 Hour Blogger Challenge with top UK travel bloggers.
