M&S has appointed award-winning search agency Propellernet to handle its SEO link building for M&S clothing and homeware products.
The agency will manage the strategic planning and implementation of link development across a number of categories on Marksandspencer.com, including womenswear, menswear and lingerie. The win follows a competitive pitch against some of the UK’s top online agencies, during which Propellernet’s unique approach to SEO and link building, termed ‘Authentic Search™’, impressed.
Rob Freedman, Head of Online Acquisition at M&S, commented, “Throughout the pitch process Propellernet demonstrated a highly targeted, quantifiable and ethical approach to SEO. “Their innovative and creative approach to link building, passion for the M&S brand, appreciation of our commercial considerations plus specialist experience within the fashion sector will play a major role in driving incremental revenue through Natural Search and help us achieve our growth targets for M&S Direct.”
Propellernet already works with retail clients including Westfield Shopping Centres, Furniture Village and SportsShoes.com and this latest client win further strengthens its positioning as a travel and retail search specialist.
The agency will make use of its strong relationships with online fashion influencers to build authoritative links back to Marksandspencer.com. Jack Hubbard, Propellernet CEO, commented, “We’re ecstatic to form a partnership with Marks & Spencer and help drive high growth for one of the UK’s most-loved retailers. “We see M&S as a key part of our growth strategy for 2011 and well beyond.”
The win gives Propellernet a positive start to the New Year and builds on a successful 2010 which saw the agency win awards for SEO campaigns at the New Media Age Effectiveness awards, the Travolution Awards and the Travel Marketing awards. And Propellernet are positioned for significant growth in 2011.
Former Head of Employee Engagement at Google, Vicky Cohen, joined in September of last year to further develop Propellernet’s internal training, which ensures that staff remain at the forefront of the search industry, while ex-Tullo Marshall Warren duo Nikki Winton and Ed Lamb were appointed as Managing Director in June and as Planning & Project Director in August, respectively.
