Golden Square Post and Disqo are challenging members of the advertising industry to create stimulating and imaginative pieces of work for its annual Square Art competition and exhibition.
For the first time ever, the theme is no theme, or ‘Blank Canvas’, as we are calling it. The aim is to stimulate the imagination, and it is up to entrants to interpret the brief how they will. We are looking for interesting and engaging pieces of art that inspire, regardless of the medium and subject.
The competition, which has been running for 8 years, is open to anyone who works in advertising. So whether you’re a copywriter who’d like to show your art director a thing or two, an account manager with a point to prove to your creative team or someone who loves to create, now is your chance to shine.
All work that is accepted will be displayed at our annual Square Art event to be held on March 24, 2011. At this event, a panel of celebrity judges, including renowned white cube artist, Harland Miller, with more to be announced, decide on the best artworks, with the winner having their work lauded in all the industry press and dinner for two at Scotts in Mayfair.
Ewan MacLeod, Golden Square’s executive producer, said: “With all the events in the past we have set a theme. This will be the most exciting one yet as it’s an open brief -- a blank canvas -- so the range of work will be tremendous. I’m looking forward to seeing just how talented our industry is, free of the shackles of a client brief.”
