Top honours in the Cannes Lions Advertising Festival has been won by Billboard magazine with a series of adverts fearturing music talent including Brit star Amy Winehouse.

Created by AlmapBBDO São Paulo, Brazil, the Grand Prix winning work also featured executions starring ‘Bono’, ‘Eminem’, ‘Britney Spears’ and ‘Marilyn Manson’.

After shortlisting 110 entries, the Design Grand Prix was awarded to Happiness Brussels, Belgium for Toyota’s entry ‘IQ Font’.

Two Cyber Lions Grands Prix were presented; the first to DDB Stockholm for Volkswagen Sweden’s ‘The Fun Theory’ in the Website and Interactive Campaigns category, whilst the Other Interactive Digital Media Grand Prix was awarded to Wieden+Kennedy Portland, USA for the Nike Livestrong Foundation entry ‘Chalkbot’.

The Volkswagen campaign was created in a bid to generate interest around BlueMotion Technologies.

DDB Stockholm’s insight was that VW made it easier to choose an eco car by making them more fun to drive. Their solution was a theory, focusing on the thinking behind the cars; “that the easiest way to change human behaviour for the better is by making it fun to do.”

Meanwhile ‘Chalkbot’ was inspired by the Tour de France tradition of chalking roads with spectators writing messages of encouragement to their favorite riders.

The Nike campaign aimed to take this positive message even further by virtually bringing the roads of France to everyone.

By sending a message to the Chalkbot through SMS, web banners, Twitter or WearYellow.com, people around the world were able to make their mark in yellow.

Over the course of a month, the Chalkbot gained over 4,000 followers on Twitter, received over 36,000 messages and printed thousands of them over 13 stages of the Tour de France.

The Jury decided not to award a Grand Prix in the Viral Advertising Category.

Interactive Agency of the Year was presented to Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Boulder, USA. BBH, London came in second place and Wieden + Kennedy, Portland, USA, third.

Mark Zuckerberg, Founder & CEO of Facebook also received the prestigious Media Person of the Year award.
