Three members of staff from leading digital and direct agency, Tullo Marshall Warren (TMW), have launched a charity project – Capture:Cure – that will harness their business knowledge and artistic talent to help raise funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Sedaka Charles, Art Director; Lynda Elliott, Senior User Experience Architect and Natasha Johl, Account Director, each of whom have been touched by cancer in some way, will showcase their artwork online along with other artists - photographers, illustrators, graphic designers, sculptors and painters.
Artists are being encouraged to upload their donated pieces of artwork onto social networking site, Facebook at www.facebook.com/CaptureCure
Artists putting forward their work must meet one of six categories that encompass emotions faced by cancer sufferers and their families and friends – love, faith, hope, strength, support and courage.
The Capture:Cure team has been busy handing out fliers to members of the public throughout London to encourage them to vote online for their favourite piece of artwork. Thirty six of the most popular pieces (voted for by Facebook users) are being held on 1st September at the Showcase Gallery in Brick Lane, London.
The art will be auctioned, and all proceeds will be donated to the charity, Breakthrough Breast Cancer. TMW is supporting Capture:Cure by making a donation for the hire of the art gallery and other expenses for the evening in order to ensure that 100% of the profit will go to charity.
Capture:Cure is also trying to get celebrities, who have also been affected in some way by cancer, behind the initiative by uploading their artwork as well as attend the auction. Capture:Cure was set up in 2009 by to raise a minimum of £5,000 for charity.
Sedaka says: “We want to use our artistic talents to help make a difference in the fight against cancer. With the number of people being diagnosed with cancer on the rise, very few people will go through life without knowing someone who has been affected by the killer disease.
Our initiative, Capture Cure, is giving everyone the chance to get involved through the uplifting medium of art to help saves lives.”
