Conduit, the company enabling web publishers to distribute their offering directly and through its global network of publishers, has announced that Euroleague Basketball, Europe’s elite basketball league, will be leveraging the Conduit Platform to deliver browser apps with games content, statistics and news.
Euroleague, which includes 24 teams in 13 countries, created the apps to increase engagement among basketball fans across Europe and to acquire new users from the Conduit Network of more than 220,000 publishers and 100,000,000 users worldwide.
Euroleague is using the Conduit Platform to establish a brand presence on the browsers and desktops of their fans. This technology will help create constant fan engagement with instant access to breaking news, exclusive game content and offers from Euroleague.net during the playoffs and the off season.
In the first week of availability the apps were added by thousands of users from all over Europe. The majority of these users came from Spain (25.05%) and Greece (13.7%), closely followed by Lithuania (12.44%) – three of the countries where Euroleague basketball is most popular.
“Delivering our brand and our content directly to our fans’ browsers is an essential part of our online strategy and Conduit is the perfect partner to help us achieve that,” said Alex Ferrer Kristjansson, Brand & New Business Manager, Euroleague.
“The huge reach and proven track record of the Conduit Platform was a major factor in our decision to adopt their technology and we are impressed with the uptake we’ve seen already.”
“The initial success of the Euroleague apps, and others in the Conduit Network, demonstrates a clear demand from users for a better, more convenient way of consuming content online,” said Adam Boyden, President of Conduit.
“Sport brands and organizations are increasingly recognising the value of apps to the online marketing mix and Conduit helps these organisations drive traffic, improve customer retention, and increase sales or registrations.”
In addition to building a community toolbar that includes news feeds, video highlights, photos, and social media links, Euroleague also created two apps that are available to their site visitors as well as to members of the Conduit network from the Conduit App Marketplace.
The first provides one-click access to every Euroleague team. The second provides a direct connect to online and video news and highlights for every team, in local languages.
These apps can be added to Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari, and are now available in the Conduit App Marketplace. Euroleague is the latest sporting organisation to have created custom apps to engage with fans, joining football clubs Liverpool and Chelsea, and the Football League Interactive, which manages and develops the internet and mobile rights of The Football League and 79 participating clubs.
The initial results for all organisations have indicated increases in website traffic, brand awareness, and customer retention. Conduit has been growing fast in the United States and around the world, recently announcing a new milestone, reaching 220,000 web publishers and 100,000,000 users in the Conduit Network.
The company is now expanding rapidly in Europe and is constantly announcing new partnerships, including recently, Trinity Mirror, one of the UK's largest newspaper publishers, and MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, the UK’s largest website for online discounts, special offers and deals.
