Makethetea.com, a website developed by digital communications agency Outside Line for UK milk brand Cravendale has just crowned its millionth brewer.
The smart online tea-making tool is an innovative website designed to address the age-old office problem of “whose turn is it to make the tea”.
Launched in June 2008 MakeTheTea.com’s success is evident in the tea making teams its attracted from high profile companies such as Audi, Sainsbury’s, British Airways and Google.
Users of makethetea.com enter their tea preferences, including amounts of milk and sugar they like to add. Users then invite their colleagues to join the site, forming their ‘team’.
A click on the "Brew Now" button then results in MakeTheTea.com randomly selecting a brewer from among the group to make the next round of tea. Tea-drinkers can then ‘rate or slate’ the maker, depending on the quality of the brew.
Cravendale brand manager, Sam Dolan says: “We are very aware that making the office drinks round is serious business. We created MakeTheTea.com as a genuine solution to this problem. It’s simple, fun to use and most importantly something you would email your colleagues about.
"Also, it makes sense because Cravendale naturally stays fresher for longer and is perfect for the office environment. Millions of people work in an office, most of them love a brew…let’s lend a hand!”
