Intel, Sony, Nokia, Pepsi, Starbucks, Peugeot, Samsung, American Express, KPMG, Coutts, Bayer Healthcare, Burberry are amongst those who have signed up for the programme which will see 1500 of the brightest minds from each of the 192 countries of the world come together to debate the future of the planet.
The Inaugural One Young World Summit will take place in London in February 2010, and will be guided by, among others, no fewer than three Nobel Peace Prize winners.
The event will provide an arena for businesses to engage with the next generation of leaders - working with them to meet their vision of the future and becoming their best ally for the future.
CEOs of major companies are being asked to send the very best young people from their organizations (or NGOs they support), as delegates.
Each delegate place costs £2,700 ( €3000) which is all-inclusive (return travel, accommodation, catering, visas, insurance, etc).
Counsellors guiding the discussions include Nobel Peace Laureate Muhammad Yunus, founder of the Grameen Bank microcredit institution.
He’ll be working alongside fellow peace-laureates Kofi Annan and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, as well as Sir Bob Geldof, Nick Haysom (Director of Politics at the United Nations), Alejandro Toledo (Former President of Peru) and Oscar Morales (Founder; Un Millon de Voces Contra las FARC), Richard Sambrook (Director; BBC World Service and BBC Global News).
The line-up also includes Harald Ludwig (Co-Chairman; Lionsgate Entertainment), Tony Fernandes (CEO; AirAsia), Elio Leoni Sceti (Global CEO; EMI Worldwide), Martin Davidson (CEO; British Council), and Carole Stone (Managing Director; YouGovStone) – with more to be announced.
The Plenary Sessions will cover a broad spectrum of contemporary concerns: Developing political leadership for a positive future, World Health challenges, Global business and its role in shaping society through the economy, Interfaith dialogue, The Environment and its protection, and the Media and its changing identity and power.
BBC Global News will broadcast live from the Summit on ‘World Have Your Say’ (broadcast in 32 languages, reaching worldwide audiences of over 100 million).
The BBC will also be following delegates on their journey from application to attending the summit itself and an additional 40 international news agencies will be sending journalists to the summit
